St Kitts and Nevis Allows Sibling Dependants

On 6 November 2020, the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Unit announced that, effective immediately, siblings are now eligible dependants under the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme.

The Citizenship by Investment Unit also clarified the costs, fees, and documentary requirements applicable for the inclusion of siblings in an application.

Effective immediately, siblings of either the main applicant or the main applicant’s spouse may be added to a citizenship application under the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme.

To be eligible, the sibling must be:

  • unmarried;
  • childless;
  • 30 years of age or under; and
  • financially supported by the main applicant.

Costs and Fees

In addition to the minimum investment amount required to obtain citizenship, the following additional costs apply for the inclusion of siblings in a citizenship application:

Investment Route Sibling Inclusion Cost
Sustainable Growth Fund US$20,000
Real Estate US$40,000

Additionally, Due Diligence Fees of US$4,000 apply for siblings under both options. Processing Fees, Certificate of Naturalisation Fees, and, once citizenship is obtained, Passport Fees also apply.

Documentary Requirements

As part of the application, the main applicant must submit a sworn affidavit confirming that the sibling is financially dependent on the main applicant and stating the reason for this financial dependence.

What does this update mean for me?

  1. Are you considering applying to the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme?

The changes make it possible for you to include your sibling(s) or your spouse’s sibling(s), as long as the sibling is unmarried, childless, aged 30 years or under, and financially dependent on you. Siblings may be included in the application subject to the costs and fees stated above, and subject to the provision of a sworn affidavit of support from you.

2. Have you already obtained citizenship under the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme?

If you have already obtained citizenship under the Programme and wish to make an application in respect of your sibling, you will unfortunately not be able to do so. Siblings cannot be added to applications that have already been approved.

Your sibling can, however, make an application for citizenship under the Programme as a main applicant.
